Why Disposable Vape Pens Don’t Make Sense in Today’s Environment
Sustainability isn't just a buzzword anymore.
Unless you’re a climate change denier, the need for sustainable choices for consumers worldwide is becoming a more urgent cause.
Disposable electronics, including vape pens for whole flower, becomes non- biodegradable waste. Even in cases where manufacturers have a recycling program, there's a lot to be done to ensure that the device is returned, reused and broken down for reusable parts.
The reality is that if the devices don’t make it back to the manufacturer-specific recycling program, these disposable electronics devices will end up in a landfill, along with all of the other disposable consumer products.
Because corporate recycling policies and practices aren’t mandated, they vary from brand to brand, and there’s very little transparency or accountability to show how much is actually getting returned, recycled and reused. The term "greenwashing" comes to mind, as many consumer goods companies use the guise of being environmentally friendly, without having much behind their eco-friendly claims.
The waste created for a single use device seems unnecessary, especially when present-day technology makes it possible to engineer devices that are refillable while being equally convenient and user-friendly.
The Omura Way
We’re thinking about the future, and so we made a rechargeable device that’s designed to last. All disposable aspects related to Omura, namely the flower sticks, are 100% biodegradable and compostable.
It’s our commitment to smart sustainability, and a product of our desire to bring together the best in engineering, design, technology and beyond.
